Lord Gordon Wasserman, the government's adviser on Police and Crime Commissioners, addressed a meeting of Wiltshire Conservatives in Melksham last night. Lord Wasserman inspired the members present on the clear need for commissioners who will be able to make an impact on reducing local crime.
Lord Wasserman said:
Law and Order has always been a political issue. Political parties use law and order in their election campaigning. So for some people to say we are on the verge of politicing our police force, they are completely wrong. So called independent candidates are as political as the party candidates.
James Gray MP said:
Angus will make an excellent commissioner and this election is too important to ignore.
