TROWBRIDGE took a step nearer to developing a Community Area Campus with the appointment of their Shadow Community Operations Board from the neighbourhood. The Board will now consult with the people of the wider Trowbridge community to establish exactly what the new Campus should include. The Community Campus Concept is being tralblazed by the Conservative Wiltshire Council and there are plans for eighteen community campuses in Wiltshire within the next five years. In Trowbridge the Conservatives Members of the Council recognise that the indoor recreational facilities at Clarendon do not meet the needs of the County Town, particularly as they are shared with the college. Other community facilities are spread about the town and the Council is keen to bring these together, perhaps in one location and so achieve savings on administration, heating costs etc.
Conservative Councillor Peter Fuller is the Area Boards’ representative on the new Shadow Campus Operation Board and said “I hope that members of the wider Trowbridge community will all take part in the consultation and so encourage us to provide the facilities which they would wish to use in the new Trowbridge Campus”.
