Conservative candidate for Wiltshire first Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Angus Macpherson, is committed to a police station in Salisbury.
“The City and the surrounding areas will have access to a police station and there is no agenda to close the station or privatise the facilities.
“The PCC will make decisions on merit, in consultation with local people and have to fulfil the Chief Constable’s operational requirements. A police station in Salisbury is integral to these requirements.
“Commissioning is not a yes / no subject; you cannot make changes with preconceived ideas or political agenda and I find it saddening that one of the other candidates in this election is attempting to turn this debate into a highly charged political confrontation.”
