The future of all five Park & Ride sites in Salisbury has been secured along with many other bus services in and around the city.
Salisbury Reds, part of Go South Coast, has been awarded the contract to run the Park & Ride service for five years with the option to extend it for a further three following a major tender exercise. They will be operated with high quality low emission vehicles and integrated with the existing services the company provides. This will mean many other local bus services are protected for the future.
Cllr Horace Prickett, Conservative portfolio holder for transport, said: “Bus services are vital in our county as they offer a lifeline to people without a car, and businesses benefit from the extra trade they bring in. The contract represents good value and has the additional benefit of providing an improved service to the residents of Salisbury. This will involve a small number of changes to the way the services are provided and details of these will be announced during the spring.”
