Young people in the Wilton area now have a purpose-built youth centre thanks to the joint efforts of Conservative-run Wiltshire Council and Wilton Town Council.
The two councils have been working together to help open the new Wilton Development Centre for Young People at The Hollows. The centre was officially opened on Monday (20 February 2012).
Jain Giles, Conseravtive campaigner for Wilton, Quidhampton, South Newton & Stoford said:
I am delighted that this centre is now open for the young people in the Wilton area to enjoy. This centre will really benefit the local community. It offers an excellent facility for a wide range of activities and events. I hope many young people go on to take part in these services.
The youth centre provides a range of activities for 13 to 19 year-olds and is open three evenings a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
On Mondays and Fridays it is a general drop-in session for all young people and Thursdays is ‘girls’ night. All three sessions are held from 6.45 to 9pm and are run by Wiltshire Council.
Anyone who would like to find out more about the youth centre and its activities can contact Jenni Bertram, Youth Development Co-ordinator , on 07833722132 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.sparksite.co.uk
