Conservative led Devizes Area Board and Devizes School have launched a mentoring scheme to help sixth form students improve their work based skills and career prospects.
Simon Jacobs, now chairman of the Area Board launched the pilot mentoring scheme through his firm Winkworth Estate Agents business back in 2012.
He said: “If we can get this to work in Devizes I would like to roll it out across the county. To my mind these guys (sixth formers) are our future. We need to give them the networks and the opportunities we had.”
Margaret Bryant a former assistant headteacher of George Ward and Melksham Oak schools has been appointed as consultant to deliver the program. Margaret who also freelances at Vaughan’s Kitchen cookery school will work closely with Head teacher Malcolm Irons and head of sixth form Glyn Evans.
The scheme is jointly funded by Devizes Area Board and Devizes School. Businesses interested in taking part should email Margaret Bryant
