Cllr Jane Scott will be attending the Malmesbury Area Board this week to talk about her role as the leader of Wiltshire Council, answer questions from those attending and talk about the council’s budget.
The meeting takes place on January 18 at Malmesbury Town Hall and everyone is welcome to attend. The meeting starts at 7pm with light refreshments available from 6:30pm.
An update will also be provided on the exciting events taking place in Wiltshire this year as part of the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee and how the local community can get involved in the celebrations.
The area board will also be asked to consider proposals from St Paul Malmesbury Without Parish Council and Malmesbury Town Council for reduced night lighting.
A member of the council’s planning team will give a short presentation on the planning process. People attending can find out how they can view and influence planning applications, how they can make comments and how Wiltshire Council responds to those comments.
Community area grants will also be discussed and considered and updates will be received from local partners.
Area board chairman Cllr John Thomson said:
We want local people to be kept as informed as possible and the area board is the best platform for this. This meeting will give local people the opportunity to ask the leader questions and how they can get involved in key decisions so they can really shape their towns and villages.
