The focus will be on Holt when Wiltshire Council's Bradford on Avon Area Board meets on Wednesday 23 November 2011 at the Holt Village Hall. The meeting starts at 6.30 for 7pm and all are welcome.
The Parish Council will lead a discussion of local issues, aspirations and activities in the village. There will be good news stories such as plans for a new zebra crossing on the B3017 in Holt, jointly funded by the Council and the community, and a presentation on the Good Neighbours Holt initiative which is supporting elderly residents to connect with key services to support their wellbeing and quality of life. A funding application to support the future of the Holt Youth Club will be considered.
The agenda also includes an update on the monitoring of HGVs including a progress report on the Lorry Watch initiative on Bradford on Avon’s Town Bridge. The Board will also consider an application for a joint Neighbourhood Plan for Limpley Stoke and Freshford as well as 2 applications to its grants fund for local projects.
The Bradford on Avon Area Board, which is one of 18 across the county, was set up as part of the new unitary Wiltshire Council. It covers the town of Bradford on Avon and the surrounding parishes of Holt, Limpley Stoke, South Wraxall, Staverton, Monkton Farleigh, Westwood, Wingfield and Winsley.
Four local councillors represent the Bradford on Avon community area and make up the board. They are Malcolm Hewson, Rosemary Brown, Linda Conley and Trevor Carbin.
A member of Wiltshire Council’s cabinet – the main strategic decision-making body of the council - also attends the meeting. The area board focuses on local issues that affect local people. Anyone can raise their concerns via the board members or the local community area manager or via the area board pages on the website.
